class=\"translation-block\">The <strong>Portuguese Initiative of the Internet Governance Forum <\/strong>(IPFGI) is a national dialogue platform that brings together all stakeholder, public and private, along with the technical and academic community and society at large, to inform, reflect and debate how the Internet should be governed, an increasingly relevant topic at national, regional and global levels.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"translation-block\">IPFGI is part of the network of NRIs (<a class=\"class1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.intgovforum.org\/en\/content\/frequently-asked-questions-about-the-nris\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">National and Regional IGFs<\/span><\/a>), initiatives framed within the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (<a class=\"class1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.intgovforum.org\/en\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">IGF<\/span><\/a>). These are organized as Internet governance forums at national, sub-regional regional, and youth levels. The main criteria for defining a region is geographical (as in the case of <a class=\"class1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eurodig.org\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">EuroDIG<\/span><\/a> for Europe), although in certain cases factors such as shared language and culture are also considered (as in the <a class=\"class1\" href=\"https:\/\/igf-lusofonia.pt\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Lusophone IGF<\/span><\/a>).<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"translation-block\">The national discussion with all stakeholders culminates in a document titled \u201c<a class=\"class1\" href=\"https:\/\/governacaointernet.pt\/en\/#msm\" target=\"_self\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Mensagens<\/span><\/strong><\/a>,\u201d which contributes to the global debate at the annual IGF.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Between 2010 and 2016, this initiative was organized nationally as the Information Society Forum \u2013 Internet Governance. This definition, established in the <a class=\"class2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.itu.int\/net\/wsis\/docs2\/tunis\/off\/6rev1.html\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Tunis Agenda<\/span><\/a> within the framework of the World Summit on the Information Society (2005), continues to serve as the conceptual foundation of international digital cooperation.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"translation-block\">Over the past 20 years, it has been increasingly recognized that Internet Governance is part of a broader <strong>digital governance <\/strong>ecosystem, encompassing not only the technical infrastructure of the Internet but also, among many other areas, structural challenges related to the digital economy, quantum computing, the metaverse, data governance, artificial intelligence and the protection of fundamental rights in the digital environment.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"translation-block\">In this context, Internet governance is not an isolated domain, but rather a <strong>central pillar of the global digital policy architecture<\/strong>, interacting with multiple international, regional and national processes.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-428be00 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"428be00\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"translation-block\">The multistakeholder model<\/h2>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3f9b3d0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3f9b3d0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-settings=\"{&quot;_animation&quot;:&quot;none&quot;}\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"translation-block\">Internet governance is based on a <strong>multistakeholder model<\/strong>, which recognizes the distributed, transnational and interdependent nature of the Internet at a global level. This multistakeholder model allows for the integration of diverse perspectives and responds to the global and distributed nature of the Internet, strengthening the legitimacy and effectiveness of digital policies.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Over the years, the IGF has established itself as a central space for debate on key digital challenges, including digital inclusion and connectivity; data protection and human rights; cybersecurity; governance of artificial intelligence; information integrity; and emerging technologies.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"translation-block\">More than just a discussion forum, the <strong>IGF contributes to informing public policies, bringing stakeholders closer together and anticipating global trends<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fb71e29 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"fb71e29\"
